Hi everyone! My #mentalcleansechallenge ended with less of a bang and more of a quiet fizzling out haha. Although I found a lot of the challenges helpful, I found I was losing interest near the end of the month. I was also dealing with reducing a medication that was making me WAY worse, so I was practicing some serious avoiding while I waited for it to be out of my system. There were a few self care activities that I will continue to enjoy, such as the physical activity, gratitude journal, developing a nighttime routine, and reducing time on social media! I’m on to my next challenge and I am hoping to finish this one a bit stronger. It is the 30 day happiness challenge (yay!) and Day 1 is NO social media. All day. I’m already panicking. But I think it’ll be liberating. So here goes nothing. Day 1 starts tomorrow and I will be back here on Day 2 to give an update and let you know what Day 2 of the happiness challenge will bring. Thanks everyone for following me on my journey!! #mentalhealthmatters #mentalhealth #anxiety #recovery #selfcare #selfcarechallenge #happiness #happinesschallenge

🌿Solitude helps. Life gets so busy and noisy that seldom do we hear our inner voice + God’s voice. ⠀⠀⠀ Finding your inner voice unlocks a lot of things in the same way it helped me create The Unbranded Lifestyle — A space that inspires a purpose filled life + business minus the limits + labels we put upon ourselves; minus that voice that tells us we can’t; minus that status quo that tells us to stop pushing; minus past shortcomings keeping us afraid and idle. ⠀⠀⠀ Unbranding allows us to be naked, brave, make waves, find our real values, and only then can we rebuild and create something that we believe in. You are more than your profession. You have a mission. A message. Today’s self care task ✍🏻⠀ Setting goals gives you something to work towards which is a purpose. We all need purpose in our lives or else we feel unfulfilled. ⠀ A goal must have a deadline or else it is just a dream. A short term goal could be anywhere from a week to three months but I wouldn’t go longer than that for a short term one. ⠀ I love setting goals because the feeling you get when you achieve them is incredible 🙌🏼 if you don’t achieve them then you either rethink the goal or you know what area of your life you need to work on so it’s a learning process. ⠀ What goals would you like to set ? #30daychallenge #30dayselfcarechallenge #selfcarechallenge #selfcare #goals #shorttermgoals #determination #motivation #why #goalsetting #goalgetter #deadlines #proud #youniquemakeup #youniquemakeup #workfromhome #makeup #skincare #bossbabe #upliftempowervalidate

#SelfCareSaturdays Do you need to escape today, or for the weekend? Then do it! Self care is so important

A post shared by The Ultimate Women’s Platform (@babyitsourworld) on

Hi friends! Going out on a limb, here. Just wondering, starting on Sunday, October 1, would you join me on a 7 day self-care challenge? The only thing you are required to invest is time on yourself. You see, I’m growing frustrated with seeing messages that moms “don’t get sick days” or “moms don’t get days off” That message is a bunch of bologna and it can be so destructive. I believed it as a new mom and it filled me with resentment and #momguilt. Self-care isn’t selfish and it’s not a trend, it’s necessary for survival. I see some of you killing it with your career, your Supermom powers and your busy social lives and I couldn’t be more happy for you! But I just think that there’s always time and space to hold for ourselves and I wanna spread that message, with your help. Self-care isn’t something that came easy to me and I don’t think I’m alone on that. As soon as the schedule gets packed “me time” is the first to go. But with practice, I have found so much joy in simply mothering myself, something I never even considered before! I’m going to post my self-care for 7 days with suggestions, but feel free to do your own thing. If you’re still reading this, then you might as well comment to let me know if you’re in this with me. Who knows who you will inspire to put a few minutes of time into their own well-being! You can either tag me or use #selfcareselflovechallenge in your posts. Thank you for helping me end mom guilt! Ps. Non-moms are also welcome to join, please do!

This month has been my most challenging Self Care month. I struggled with keeping my mind and spirit at some form of peace. There were days when I failed miserably (like today) and I tried with everything I had to find a bright light in this storm. What did I learn about myself today? I am a person with a huge heart who leans toward pleasing others. It’s okay to have a huge heart. It’s also okay to have boundaries and sometimes my huge heart interviews with the feelings that follow. I know my huge heart wants people to be like me and they simply are not. I am me and they are them. I must accept that and hope that my huge heart realizes the difference. I hope that my heart heals and is always able to rebound. I hope that one day I look back over this life and I hope that I smile in spite of… because hope is a good thing. #begoodtoyourself

Today’s self care task ✍🏻⠀ I actually started doing a few things at the start of the week that I’d been putting off and do you know what, it’s made me feel really good and less overwhelmed 🙌🏼⠀ I guess it’s been nagging me at the back of my mind that I’ve got them to do so now that I’ve started them it’s much better 💪🏼 ⠀ Plus avoiding something is never a good idea. If you don’t want to or have to do it then get someone else to do it. Maybe it doesn’t really need done, so don’t do it. But if it does need done get it done as quick as you can. ⠀ Our lives are so busy these days that we have to be able to prioritise effectively so maybe have half an hour less sleep or television and get something off your to do list done. It’ll make you feel great and less overwhelmed 🙌🏼 #30daychallenge #30dayselfcarechallenge #selfcarechallenge #selfcare #procrastination #puttingoff #eatthatfrog #determination #motivation #priorities #prioritise #overwhelmed #nomoreavoiding #feelgood #getitdone #younique #youniquemakeup #workfromhome #makeup #skincare #bossbabe #upliftempowervalidate

Day 27 Letting go of negativity. I thought for a long time on this one… as I mostly… already distance myself from things that don’t bring me joy. But I was reminded about growing through relationships and someone having the courage to say thank you… nameste… good bye. In Shamanic Astrology if you said you were divorced they would ask, “So when did you complete that relationship?” It was seen as a graduation rather than a failure. I admire those who know when it’s time to move on, releasing people and things that no longer serve us. I’ve had to do it several times. And while it sucks, and hurts like hell… I’ve experienced rainbows and unicorns on the other side. #selfcareawarenessmonth #selfcare #selfcarechallenge #evolvetolive

Most of us have heard about self-care and the importance of taking care of our bodies, “go to the gym, drink 64 oz of water a day and get some sleep for goodness sake.” So, we are going to save everyone a lecture and propose something different: self-care is about making an investment in yourself. : As entrepreneurs, we have to make tough choices about where to invest money and resources, but outside our work day, we also have to make decisions about who or what is worth our precious leisure time. Maybe this looks like saying “no” to your bestie for a night out and spending it with yourself and a bubble-bath instead. Maybe your self-care involves telling your significant other that Tuesdays are his responsibility to cook dinner, so you can pick up a yoga class or just get your nails done. : In whatever way you need some extra tender-loving-care, that is where your self-care resides. It won’t look like the self-care your friend needs or even your business partner; it’s subjective towards your needs. So, no more excuses, no more complaints – take your necessities as serious as your business.

Day 16: Safe space #septemberselfcarechallenge #selfcarechallenge #selfcareseptember #selfcare #amma Anytime I get to spend time with Amma, the hugging saint is my “safe space”. She embodies wisdom, Grace and unconditional love. She inspires so many people to serve, volunteer and be compassionate towards others. Her humanitarian work is beyond anything I’ve seen in this world. Whether attending her yearly events in North America or visiting her home in southern India, I always come out a better human. Amma reminds me of the beauty and tragedies of life and helps me to accept them all the same, to get over my likes and dislikes and to go beyond the form, leaning closer into the divine source/God and to surrender the ego’s hold. This is where I feel “safe”, knowing that we’re all connected and watched over with pure love! Thank you Amma for being my teacher!

The colour of food you eat are a clue as to what nutrients they contain and how they benefit your health. Black or purple coloured foods contain anthocyanins. These are antioxidants that are good for heart and brain health, may support a healthy blood pressure and lower LDL cholesterol. Eat foods such as – Blueberries, purple cabbage, blackcurrants, plums, prunes, or purple grapes. Grapes also contain resveratrol to relax the arterial wall 😊 You can find me in my FB group for women over 40. We share hormone balancing stories, diet, exercise, lifestyle and mindset. Building a faith with our purpose for life is key for living a meaningful & happy life; selfcare & Self Love helps us get there. Today create an affirmation for yourself to use throughout the day that puts you into the perspective of seeing your life as worthy, loves, and important. Today mine is: “My needs are always being supported & taken care of. I am held and loved unconditionally by the Universe” You can take inspiration from this or if it feels good use it for yourself! Building faith helps us shift our mindset around our inherent worthiness and as an effect we live from a more loving, positive place. This exercise has the ability to move mountains and I hope you love it. What affirmation will you use today? #theuniversehasyourback #selfcareseptember #selfcarechallenge #positiveaffirmations #onlyloveisreal #acim

Day 26 take off your super human cape… you are enough! Running your own business seems to be a 24/7 job. You don’t get to leave your work behind at the office… I always feel like I should be doing more! When I arrived home today we have a new bloom on our… what we thought was dead…. rose bush, but wait… it gets better. Next to the beautiful bloom was a bud just beginning to open and next to that was another bud in waiting. Blooming happens in stages! So today I decided I had done enough “work” and while saying hello to the well cared for plants at the Riverbend Retreat Center, (thank you, sir) I began to remember the things I had accomplished in the past week and it was enough… til tomorrow 😜#selfcareawarenessmonth #selfcare #selfcarechallenge #evolvetolive

Creating (and sticking to) a nightly routine can be a total game changer when it comes to improving our lives with our selfcare & Self love practice. When we make time to brush our teeth, enjoy washing our face, and saying some positive affirmations to ourselves before we fall asleep can radically transform our selfesteem. It becomes an intimate relationship building time with ourselves opposed to “just brushing our teeth.” We can build confidence. Care. Respect. Gentleness. Compassion. Devotion. Consistency. Tonight play around with your nightly routine. What things MUST you do before you go to bed? What things are you not doing but would like to introduce? Enjoy your night and remember, self care and Self Love is a necessity to living a life you truly enjoy. 💖 #selfcareseptember #selfcaretips #selfcare #selfcarechallenge #selflove #selflovechallenge

Self Care Challenge Day 23 Ask yourself, what do you need to let go of/walk away from that isn’t serving you?! My answer: Grains and Wheats They are the bane of existence. 😝 No seriously. 😩I love breads and pastas😍 but my body isn’t about that life anymore and I seriously have a physical reaction to eating those things. 😒🤢😷🤒☹️ Wheat and grains cause inflammation in my body, specifically my joints which cause me a tremendous amount of debilitating pain. I had one slice of pizza on Saturday and I’m still feeling it today. It’s going to be a big transition for me but it’s what my body needs. I’ve learned to just listen to my body and every time my body is right! Goodbye grains and wheats. “You are enough. You are so enough, it is unbelievable how enough you are.” – Sierra Boggess . . . . . . . Day Twenty-Six – Take Your Cape Off . . . . There are many roles that we play and most of the time, it requires a cape and super-human action to get everything accomplished. We tend to play the superhero at the expense of our own well-being. It’s okay to unbutton your cape and allow those around you to enjoy the gift of simply being YOU! . . . . Instructions: . . . 1. Where in your life can you take your cape off? Can you sit in a moment? Can you witness the pure magic of a cat sleeping or the aroma of a sweet flower? We move so fast. We’re always thinking, always going, always chasing… Today, on your self care super soul Sunday- take time to cherish the moments. Slow down time by slowing down yourself. Unplug from your desire to ‘go go go’ and allow yourself three minutes to stop, breathe deeply, and feel into the present. In doing that you will expand time for yourself and see there’s no need to rush, everything gets done and their is a perfect sync to life. In the Bible, it’s referred to as Aion, when life feels eternal in the here and now, the present moment. So take time today to cherish moments in your life ❤️ #selfcare #selfcaresunday #selfcaretips #selfcarechallenge #selfcareseptember #selflovechallenge #selflove

“Let the beauty we love be what we do. There are a hundred ways to kneel and kiss the ground.” – Rumi . . . . . . . Day Twenty-Four – Explore the Source . . . . We all hold Spirit within us – ‘You are the universe in ecstatic motion!” (another Rumi favorite of ours!) Based on our family history and upbringing we may call this Spirit or Divine Being by another name. We may all pray or worship in different ways but we are all connected by the same thread. Some may go to church or chapel, others may find themselves in nature when connecting to God. The essence of pray is that we are conversing with a Higher Being. One that we all hold within us. Today’s invitation is to Explore The Source. Where is it that you find yourself closest to The Divine? The beauty is we can connect anytime and any place. So how do you connect? . . . . . Instructions: . . . 1. Show us how you connect to a higher power. Feel free to show us the place where you feel closest to Spirit. Maybe it is in nature. Perhaps it is at church. Hello my loves! Don’t worry, I didn’t forget you! 💖 TONIGHT as you fall asleep, make a mental list of all the things you’re grateful for. 😴 Begin by reviewing your day, starting from the beginning. What brought joy or pleasure into your life today? Did you enjoy your breakfast? Did you make anyone laugh? How many times did you smile? I’d like you to bring those memories into your mind and feel into them as if they’re happening again. Want to know a secret? When we relive positive energy in our minds (visualization) we’re bringing more of that energy into our lives for the future (same goes for the negative). So by ending your night with relaxing into gratitude and positivity you’re calling in more of what you’re revising for the days to come while simultaneously telling your psyche that you’re choosing to focus on the good in life (and not replay the bad) and that will gradually become the norm for your brain. Self care is a practice, it needs to be done daily and repetitively to make a profound impact. These small changes in your day can radically transform the outcome of not just your day but your life if you do them regularly. So tonight I hope you go to bed grateful. ❤️ As always, so so so much love to you & your journey of self love and self care. 💌 If you’d like, head on over to our group, Positive Self-Care Siterhood on Facebook and join the tribe of women who are changing the world by changing their lives! 💕 #selfloveisthebestlove #selfcareisntselfish #selfcarechallenge #selfcareseptember #selfcare #selflove #selflovechallenge

I’ve always resented the little pooch on my stomach, no matter what kind of shape I was in. and although insecurities never truly seem to completely disappear, they can sure as hell be fought & ignored, because they deserve zero attention❌ as I continue to get stronger mentally and physically, I am reminded of all that my body gets me through, and have come to realize that my self confidence should NOT rely on a little extra body fat, that, by nature, is meant to keep my body warm🔥 & oh do I love being warm🙃 so parade around in those crop tops, or don’t, whatever makes you love the skin that you’re in the most💗you are & always will be a badass. either way, give your insecurities a little extra love today, you deserve to be inexplicably happy & unapologetically confident every day💟 ~~~~ much thanks to the leaders this week for this wonderful challenge: MONDAY: @justdimpleit TUESDAY: @lauren_bongiorno WEDNESDAY: @gofitjo THURSDAY: @veggiekins FRIDAY: @omandthecity SATURDAY: @addicted_to_lovely SUNDAY: winners announced! Our last week we will be focusing on Self-Empowerment and Self-Trust. . . . . Day Twenty-Two – Take a Leap! . . . . We all have talents and gifts that sometimes get pushed to the side. Think back to when you were a kid and a sea of possibilities lay before you. Do you remember dreaming about being something specific? Maybe a ballerina or a firefighter or an inventor? Those dreams and desires still live inside each of us and while maybe becoming an Olympic ice-skate at the age of 40 (yes, that was my dream) isn’t on the horizon, exploring those old sparks are worth revisiting. Today’s invitation is to take a leap. Maybe you dreamed of being an artist? Take a leap and buy yourself a pack of pencils and a pad and explore! Perhaps you have always loved music…maybe piano lessons would make your heart sing. . . . . Instructions: . . . 1. Allow yourself to explore your daydreams. Write them down. Today’s self care task ✍🏻⠀ Carrying hatred and anger around is exhausting and it causes you a lot of negative energy which is no good. ⠀ You might find that the more you’re feeling these emotions, the more bad things that happen. Negativity attracts negativity and the only way to stop that is to start giving out positive energy. ⠀ I’m not saying to drop all grudges, forgive everyone who’s ever wronged you etc but try and not actively feel those negative emotions because all they do is hinder you. ⠀ Put the bad bits in a box and hide them at the back of your mind. Fill the rest of your mind with positivity 🙌🏼 #30daychallenge #30dayselfcarechallenge #selfcarechallenge #selfcare #forgiveness #anger #exhausting #negativeemotions #negativeenergy #removenegativity #nonegativeenergy #positivethoughts #positivethoughtsonly #positivity #positivemindset #younique #youniquemakeup #workfromhome #makeup #skincare #bossbabe #upliftempowervalidate

Gym, swim, stretch & sunbathe ~ nothing makes me feel better than yoga, exercise, sleep, the sun, pool and yummy food hehe 💚 . 3 weeks into the Self Care Challenge (can’t believe how quickly it’s gone) ~ how have people been finding it? Notice any differences yet? Don’t worry if you’ve fell of the bandwagon, it’s never to late to start again 😊 I definitely feel more positive and relaxed (that will have a lot to do with being on holiday too) but I’ve made a conscious effort to be more positive and do things that maintain my sense of wellbeing 🌈💗🕉 . @alexyoga_uk @rawfullygood4u @lalunahealing33 @rootedrebelyoga @studiorawliverpool . . . . . . . . . . . . #septemberselfcarechallenge #selfcarechallenge #selfcare #icareaboutselfcare #mywellbeingmatters #imatter #holistic #health #wellness #yoga #yogaflow #yogagram #yogajourney

This is a quote was inscribed into Rosslyn Chapel a few hundred years ago. It still holds true today. Truth or being authentic is a life long journey for some. Self-Care Awareness Challenge – Day 18 – Imperfect Perfection . . . This is hard for me. I make my bed every morning. Every. Morning. Every. Single. Morning. . . . On Tuesday we were scheduled to fly to Puerto Rico for a wedding. As you can imagine, the day was full of canceled flights, emails, calling hotels, checking on family. Making the bed was not at the top of my priority list. So I left it. But I had anxiety about it all day. I allowed myself to leave it and be okay with the imperfections of the day. But it was hard. I had to rush to pick up my mom from the airport and we were away from the house the entire day. And all I could think about was the mess that was waiting to greet me when I returned home. It's hard to let the little things go. And I found for myself, especially in the midst of chaos, I needed to make my bed. The routine of it makes me sane. And what I adored was when I came home that night, my sweet man had made it for me after I rushed out of the house. ❤️ #perfectlyimperfect #selfcareselfcareawarenessmonth #selfcarechallenge #evolvetolive

Day 20 Recycle and Release. I didn't take this challenge on a physical level as I am constantly releasing… it's something that comes with my lifestyle of movement. But what came for me today was releasing of my expectations. I find myself in a position of a series of disappointments and know that by releasing my expectations that the room for disappointment diminishes. I live a life of freedom that doesn't make sense to many. But I know when I get out of my head and move with the energetic flow… trusting that everything is in Divine Order… orchestrated for my highest good, that my life is no less than magical. Releasing… letting go… of my expectations helps me to stay in the moment saying yes to what shows up, rather than being disappointed in what doesn't.#selfcareawarenessmonth #selfcare #selfcarechallenge #evolvetolive

day 3 of #SinkIntoSavasana & the #selfcarechallenge given to us by @gofitjo really hit home with me. sometimes it can feel like we are always trying to "figure out our lives" or that we "need to get our shit together," and this can cause us to stress and to be overwhelmed by the idea that we need to be completely put together in every moment of our lives. especially being in college, I frequently question what I want to do with my life and if my major is the right one to get me there. our ideas shift and our passions change, and that's totally okay! what's important is that we allow ourselves to change because that's how we grow. whatever changes in the rest of our life that need to happen after that can be made with a little drive & dedication. but we can only take so many steps today to prepare for the rest of our tomorrows. life is long, and also short at the same time. don't worry about the future just now, and simply do what you can in today and enjoy it, because you only get so many of them. so, my goal today in light of this challenge is to take one small, baby step towards my current passion by reaching out to someone who has experience and the possibility for me to gain more opportunities and experience in that profession. so here's to enjoying the path that we're on, looking forward to the many different directions future paths might take us, and enjoying all of the wonderful views along the way.✨❣️ ~~~~ much thanks to the leaders this week for this wonderful challenge: MONDAY: @justdimpleit TUESDAY: @lauren_bongiorno WEDNESDAY: @gofitjo THURSDAY: @veggiekins FRIDAY: @omandthecity SATURDAY: @addicted_to_lovely SUNDAY: winners announced! There's always something to be grateful for. It's important to remember that even when our lives are feeling less than perfect there are always good things surrounding us; sometimes we just need to look a little bit harder. The goodness of the fresh air, a warm bed to sleep in, or food to eat. These are blessings often taken for granted. There's goodness passed from strangers who smile or even getting a green light when you're in a rush. A great tip for selfcare is to focus more of your attention and awareness on the goodness that's around you. Look for the light, and believe in the love of all things. 💜 You will be guided. #positivevibesonly #energyflowswhereattentiongoes #selfcareseptember #selfcarechallenge

Today's self care task ✍🏻⠀ Walking is one of the best and easiest forms of exercise. When you've got your dog or a friend with you, you can literally cover miles without noticing. Plus it gets you out in the fresh air which helps your mood and can help you sleep. ⠀ We should all be doing exercise everyday but it's not always possible. If you can manage to go on a couple of big walks per week then you're doing pretty well. ⠀ Try and walk somewhere you find pretty whether that be the beach, a forest trail or in a town because your mood will feel a greater impact if you are enjoying the scenery around you. ⠀ Who went for a walk today ? #30daychallenge #30dayselfcarechallenge #selfcarechallenge #selfcare #walking #exercise #healthyliving #healthy #nature #positivity #positivemindset #goodmood #feelgood #younique #youniquemakeup #workfromhome #makeup #skincare #bossbabe #upliftempowervalidate

day 2 of #SinkIntoSavasana and @lauren_bongiorno is leading us into considering how we can and should detox our minds and bodies in certain parts of our lives. even the smallest changes can bring us more self awareness and peace🙏some of my favorite ways of detoxing, and ones that I'm still working on, include: 1️⃣putting down my phone and not getting sucked into the hours of time that can be wasted scrolling, scrolling, scrolling. being mindful of when I'm on my phone because I'm simply bored, and instead picking up a book, or taking in my surroundings, whatever they may be📲🌳 2️⃣on a similar note, making a conscious effort to connect with people when I'm interacting with them. eye contact can have such a powerful impact on a conversation, and feeling like you're truly being listened to and given the time of day can change someone's mood instantly, while also helping me become more present and mindful in that moment👀 3️⃣whenever I need space away from stress or conflict, I tend to turn towards nature. a good hike or time spent by the water can do wonders to detox the mind of the many thoughts that tend to crowd our conscious every day👣🏞 4️⃣I LOVE a good face masking/nail painting spa day at home. throw some yoga and homemade brunch in there and you basically have my ideal rest day. #selfcare for the mind, body, & soul💕 ~~~~ much thanks to the leaders this week for this wonderful challenge: MONDAY: @justdimpleit TUESDAY: @lauren_bongiorno WEDNESDAY: @gofitjo THURSDAY: @veggiekins FRIDAY: @omandthecity SATURDAY: @addicted_to_lovely SUNDAY: winners announced! HELLO *What you do DOES make a difference*. ✌️A while ago I've had the pleasure of hearing some positive feedback on helping some people get clearer on their brand. The usual things I hear about me was that I'm creative but more often now I hear that I'm great at connecting with people! If we don't connect it's A-OK. 😁But for those I've had the privilege of helping get their brand message clearer it's been amazing! I really do believe everyone has great gifts that they aren't maximizing! Imagine what you can do if you are! The fun about personal branding is pulling out these qualities I see that people don't see in themselves. Or putting these qualities together to be of influence and do business confidently. What's your greatest strength that people often compliment you on? It could be something like me being called creative multiple times that I've shamefully taken for granted! 😁😁😁😂😂😂 . . . . . #personaldevelopment #vancity #personaldevelopment #vcbb #communityovercompetition #personalbrand #personalgrowth #personalbranding #mentalwellness #selfcare #selfcarechecklist #selfcarechallenge #selfcareawarenessmonth #selfcareawareness #collaborationovercompetition #inspiration #creativepreneur #wearethecreativeeconomy #womeninbusiness #contentcreator #womensempowerment #consciousliving #consciouslifestyle #NourishedCreativeUnChallenge #strivesatisfied #qotd #quoteoftheday #quotetoday

Day 19 – forgiveness… letting go… the invitation for me today is to take a look at where I am today because of where I've been. It's a travel day for me and so there's been a lot if opportunity for reflection. Without boring you with my current struggles I can tell you while waiting for a ride, I was deleting all the pictures from my phone and the wave of emotions that came with that. (It's not as dramatic as it sounds as all the pictures are on my computer), but it was an interesting exercise in letting go. The one that had the most energy behind them were the ones from when The Riverbend Retreat Center was broken into. While I did personal work around the incident, it wasn't until I stabbed myself in the stomach with a piece if glass while I was cleaning up the mess that anger finally emerged. As I continued for a few days dealing with the mess this person was back on the street. The gift was the space for my anger to emerge and the energetic fire ceremony release was the deletion of the pictures. Not from a place of anger but from a willingness in gratitude for the gift he gave me.#selfcareawarenessmonth #selfcare #selfcarechallenge #evolvetolive

Welcome to Day 19 of Self care challenge!🍂 . For the next 30 days I'll guide you through to up your self care game and put yourself first! . This one is simple. Run! . . 🏃🏻‍♀️By run, I literally mean to move your body. I miss running soooo much. Since I still don't have a clear from my pelvic floor physio to run, I'll hop on the bike and join you in moving my body. . One of the reasons I loved running is that I had time to be with myself, undistracted, tune into my thoughts and just enjoy the fresh air. Often I had the best ideas pop up during the run, other times I'd sort through my to do list (in my head) and when I get home I know exactly what to do. Making my day extra productive. Running specifically increases your endorphins and as a result leaving you in the good mood and on a natural high that stays with you day. . Who's in? Let's create movement and let's RUN together!! For accountability, I'll share a post of me riding my stationary bike. And just for fun, share your own run and feel free to tag me 🙂 . BONUS: apply Breathe EO or Breathe stick to your chest to open up airways and swipe Peppermint EO on your temples to keep you alert and cool during a workout✌🏼 . . Ready. Set. Day 12: Enough #septemberselfcarechallenge #selfcarechallenge #selfcare #holistichealth After over 8 years of teaching yoga and 17 years of practicing yoga, I've come to know that "I am enough." Everyday we are taught or given messages that we are NOT enough. Whether it is through commercials, advertising, marketing, etc…we're given messages that we need to be better, always seeking the next thing. What if instead, we learn how to just be. Know that as long as you're breathing and walking this earth, you're living the gift of life! There's nothing to be, beyond yourself. Embrace every part, even the broken pieces. "I am enough." "You're enough." "We're enough." The End. Photo taken @sacredchillwest

Day 18- letting go of perfection. I was going to say that letting go of perfection is what moved Evolve to Live forward… letting it evolve. But the real challenge for me is my personal perfection. Through this challenge I've been able to identity where my ego needs some taming. Aging doesn't bother me, in fact it comes with some pretty nice perks! How I look while I'm aging bothers the hell out of me! And when I make my goals for the quarter… under personal… I add nothing… why? Don't know what to add. I guess that's the imperfect perfection… just start with anything! I always wondered how one transitions gracefully from Donna Reed to Aunt Bea. (You youngins will have to google that!) letting go of perfection personally will continue to be my conscious journey… and today… it sucks!#selfcareawarenessmonth #selfcare #selfcarechallenge #evolvetolive

What do you want your days to look like??? Such a powerful question … that indeed forces you to unlock your mind's potential and visualise .. what do you really really want. I used to do this exercise a lot… but since becoming a mom I almost forgot how to 🤔 it could be because my whole day is filled with someone else's life and needs, so much so that I forgot my own. I constantly have to remind myself that self care is not egoistic… self care is needed, mandatory in fact, in order for us to be able to give and as mothers, take care of others 🙌 self care is the answer to my question… I visualise and strive to have 3 hours all for myself daily: 1 for #creation, 1 for #learning and 1 for #movement Let's see if I can manage to… 😅💪 . #blogger #lifestyleblogger #selfcare #motherhood #momsofinstagram #igmotherhood #tuesday #quotes #qotd #words #thoughts #healthcoach #healthy #mindset #picoftheday #setpriorities #priorities #wellness #mamme #nonhomaitempo #selfcarechallenge

Today's self-care included a few things. While I was reading You Are A Badass this weekend, I came across this quote. It's been in my head ever since. So I challenged myself to be at peace and live in the present. In addition, I just started listening to the podcast @blackgirlinom in which they were discussing positive affirmations. Today's affirmation was, "What is for you cannot be taken from you." I repeated this statement throughout the day. It's amazing to me how just these two very small shifts really transformed my life today. I spoke with conviction and confidence, didn't let any negativity spoil my day, and accomplished over 75% of tasks on my to-do list, which is a rarity for me. I think I'll keep this up. 😎🤓😏 #curlsidoadore #selfcarechallenge #selfcareaintselfish #selfcareisntselfish #selfcareeveryday #positiveaffirmations #liveinthemoment

it's important to recognize where you are every day, because you only get so many moments in those beautiful places with those beautiful people that are in your life right now. ~~~~~ as part of the #SinkIntoSavasana challenge this week, @justdimpleit invited us to share things we are grateful for today. I love keeping a monthly gratitude list as a part of my bullet journal each month, so I love & support spreading daily gratitude because I honestly believe it brings more mindfulness and happiness into each day. today, I'm grateful for… 1️⃣oceans, rivers, lakes, any water that follows its own rhythm brings me peace & calm without fail🌊 2️⃣my legs, which can run, jump, lift, and push farther than I would ever imagine they could. having #thickthighs used to be an insecurity of mine, but now I embrace the strength and muscle of my legs with all my heart💪🏃‍♀️ 3️⃣sunshine☀️I won't lie, part of the reason I chose the university that I currently attend is for the warmth and sunshine. having the sun on my face and warm my body often gives me the energy and revitalization that helps me appreciate all the beautiful things every day has to offer. ~~~~ much thanks to the leaders this week for this wonderful challenge: MONDAY: @justdimpleit TUESDAY: @lauren_bongiorno WEDNESDAY: @gofitjo THURSDAY: @veggiekins FRIDAY: @omandthecity SATURDAY: @addicted_to_lovely SUNDAY: winners announced! “Sometimes letting things go is an act of far greater power than defending or hanging on to.” – Ekhart Tolle . . . . . . . Day Nineteen – Set Free . . . . . . . All relationships in life come to an end. Some end in death, some end because paths have changed, some end because we outgrew them. All these relationships are mirrors for ourselves, so that we can see clearly the things that we need to acknowledge and grow from. And holy cow, that can be so hard. If we can try and see these past relationships not as failures, but as completed lessons or journeys, we can let go with more grace and gratitude. The invitation today is to think of a relationship that has ended that you still have feelings of anger, hurt, sadness or frustration. It can be any relationship (work, romantic, friend, family…) Write the name of that person on a piece of paper and reflect on your feelings about that relationship and how it ended. Send light and blessings to that person in your mind, for they were here to give you a gift in this life, and then burn the piece of paper (or ceremoniously discard it) and let go of your negative attachment to them. . . . Instructions: . . . 1. Post a picture of whatever you feel is appropriate for this invitation and feel free to share as much or as little about the process. This may bring up some big emotions so be gentle with yourself! . . . 2. Follow @selfcareawarenessmonth and @evolvetolive . . . 3. Use hashtags #selfcare #selfcarechallenge #selfcareawarenessmonth #evolvetolive . . . 4. Make sure your Instagram profile is public so that we can see your amazing posts! . . . G R A T I T U D E • Occasionally I'll tell myself that being an entrepreneur is hard. But one thing I have is this dude who's been beside me. Not only that, he tells me to do what I do. He told me to pursue my dream. He bought me a microphone and told me to put myself out there. I think through the tough times we forget that what we already have, such as the encouraging partner we have, is the biggest blessing. Over the years being grateful changed a lot about my perception of life and business. If you ever feel uninspired or disappointed, ask who in your life inspires you to be your best. You may have a handful of people come to mind. Even one can make all the difference! Cheers to your business + life! 🥂You got this. ⠀⠀⠀ 📷: @sherryliphoto – 👋 Thank you Sherry for capturing this. Day 17 – change direction… FOCUS! How appropriate for changing direction. I need 2 new tires!!! But here's what I did for the invitation. Something I do every few months and since summer began, I haven't done it. So a wonderful reminded to change direction and focus! Every few months I fold a 8 X11 sheet of paper into thirds and at the top I write the date and in each section I write my 3 areas of focus. If someone asks me to do or participate in something that isn't on my paper, I say no! It keeps me on track and not overwhelmed with too many things to do. For instance on the top of my paper today one column says Evolve to Live, the middle section says The Riverbend Retreat Center, and the 3rd says personal. Under each heading I list realistic expectations of what can be accomplished in the next couple of months. I have kept these papers since I started and it's fun to go back and see all the things that have been realized. So toddy I'm grateful for the invitation reminder to do something differently and keep my focus on track. #selfcareawarenessmonth #selfcare #selfcarechallenge #evolvetolive

Day 17 of Self Care Awareness Month…Change your direction I was recently lucky enough to spend some time with one of the hosts of this incredible challenge @aaroheeyoga and we certainly did change our direction! Life is an interesting game isn't it? And sometimes viewing it as a game can help us when faced with the most daunting challenges and decisions. But there is no right or wrong. Just choice. And often in the depths of a situation, we can feel as though our choices are limited. Sometimes we just need a little change in perspective (literal or figurative) to see a range of options we'd never considered before. @selfcareawarenessmonth @evolvetolive #selfcare #selfcarechallenge #selfcareawarenessmonth #evolvetolive #handstand #changeyourdirection #changeyourperspective #gettheeffupsidedown #turntheworldupsidedown #inversionjunkie #yogagirl #yogaintheworld

Day 17 of Self-Care Awareness Challenge. . . . Change Direction. . . . This challenge has so many possibilities. The intent to start to ask ourselves WHY we do things a certain way. Is there a reason we have our belief systems? Or do we go about our lives without ever wondering why we hold tight to ideas or beliefs. . . . My yoga room/guest bedroom has had a couch under the window for the last year or so. I don't know why we put it there but when he suggested we move it to the other side of the room I didn't want to. "Why?" He asked. I didn't have an answer. I just thought it needed to be where it had always been. He gave me a list of reasons why the bed should be on the opposite side of the room. So with my heels dug into the rug of never changing, I helped rearrange the room. . . . And of course it looks good. And it made me wonder, why had I held onto the configuration of the room so hard? We do that with things in our life. We don't know why we hold onto things or ideas, but we do. With a death-like grip. When you feel attached to something so intensely, ask yourself why, and see if you can soften the hold just a little. Everything changes. 💕❤️💫. #selfcare #selfcarechallenge #selfcareawarenessmonth #evolvetolive

Day 15! Let the unfollowing being! In real life and on social media. Listen. I get that there's this big bad myth out there that tells you "you're a bad friend if you unfollow someone," but I'm here to tell you that's BS. Like, completely. Unfollowing can be one of the best decisions you can make for your mental and emotional well beings. We are CONSTANTLY connected nowadays and are always witnessing other people's emotions, opinions, and news. All of that combined can be some really serious energy. Some good, some bad, and some down right ugly. It's okay to press "unfollow" to the vibes you're not feeling. It's okay to unfollow your aunt who's always posting annoying pictures, or your radical friend who's vibes are the complete opposite of yours. It's also okay to unfollow old BFFs who you just don't walk the same path with. Unfollowing doesn't mean you're a bad person or a judge Judy- it just means you care about what energy you take in. So tonight! Hit that facebook and instagram scene and see who vibes and who doesn't! It's time to send people love with a unfollow goodbye and uplift your newsfeed! 💖 And ps for you sensitive soul out there- no one has to ever know that you've decided to unfollow them. This is your private information; treat it as such. Don't let someone's bad vibes walk around your mind. Choose who you let in. ❤️❤️❤️ #selfcareseptember #selfcaretips #selfcarechallenge #selflove #selfcare

I am SO Excited to be a guest host for tomorrow’s @evolvetolive #selfcareawarenessmonth . Tomorrow’s theme is UNPLUG! 🔌🔌 . A few posts back I was sharing how hard it is for me to take the time for self care, I am always scheduling work in that time and have to really be cognizant about adding this into my schedule. Taking time to Unplug is huge for me, as you read I am dialed in on a device working away most likely. It’s a huge part of what I do and hard to escape. 🙏🏻 . If you caught my story the other day I share a little behind-the-scenes on the creation of this post. It has been an absolutely beautiful September week here in the Quad Cities, warm and sunny and I spent about an hour at this spot before even creating this shot. I wanted to actually be spending time taking care of me, being Unplugged before creating a shot that represented this. ❤️ . I chose to take an hour in an incredibly packed week to sit under a tree, I turned my phone off and didn’t even wear my fitbit. I love picking one of the poems from @readthesewords by @patbailey – reading the words over and over and then taking a moment to let them soak in. And really just feel the words resonate in me. Taking time to breathe and relax, disconnected from my social world to just be in the moment. 😊 . What have you done to UNPLUG this week? Tomorrow for this challenge we are asking you to share that, whether it’s a walk in the park, a bath, reading a book or spending time with those you love. We want to see it! Go ahead and unplug for a bit, it’s such a beautiful feeling! 🔌😍❤️ . Be sure to use the challenge tags #selfcareawarenessmonth #selfcarechallenge #evolvetolive #selfcare & tag me, @evolvetolive @selfcareawarenessmonth in your shot for tomorrow and keep checking back with Evolve to Live to see the daily themes and remember to take care of YOU! . . . 📸 me @nikonusa #niftyfifty . . . . . #readthesewords #thehellyeslife #unplug #gaiam #thenorthface #unplugged #taketimeforyou #aldifinds #otzshoes #barbasandzacari #shopmyotherhalf #picnicking #readinglist #pixiestyle #shorthairstyles #relaxstyle #relaxingtime

Today's self care task ✍🏻⠀ So I obviously work from home and I'm also ill. That means some days lots and lots and lots of tv time. Now I love reality tv and junk tv but do you know how refreshing it is to watch a documentary and get totally intrigued and thinking 🙌🏼 As much as I love reality tv it definitely doesn't make you think much. ⠀ Documentaries don't have to be boring I watch medical, autopsy, special forces, current news, police type documentaries because these are subjects that interest me. I wouldn't want to watch certain history, art or music documentaries because I'm not very interested in those fields. ⠀ There's loads of documentaries on every week because I probably manage to watch 3 a week and that's never using the documentary channels. ⠀ Well worth learning something new/ more about something plus you're stimulating your brain at the same time 🙌🏼 ⠀ What kind of documentary would you watch ? #30daychallenge #30dayselfcarechallenge #selfcarechallenge #selfcare #documentary #documentaries #tv #tvtime #learning #learningsomethingnew #music #history #art #medical #police #specialforces #currentnews #younique #youniquemakeup #workfromhome #makeup #skincare #bossbabe #upliftempowervalidate

You are the only person who knows what you need for your own self-care. Self-care often tends to focus on physical habits but spiritual, mental and soulful habits are just as important. What you focus on may change in the same way that the seasons change with an easy ebb and flow. We are moving into autumn in the UK. The light is changing and days are getting that wee bit shorter. A shift is coming. What are you planning for self-care for the next few months? I would love to hear ~ Samantha If you know what you need to do for your own self-care, but need some help to put it into practice then my September Self-care Challenge for Wise Women may be just the thing for you. Day Thirteen – Start a Compliment File . . . . . . . “Comparison is the thief of joy.” – Theodore Roosevelt . . . . . . . We want you to be your biggest cheerleader. There are so many avenues that can lead to feelings of low self-worth or not enough. Most of the time, that stems from external pressures. Social media, magazines, and general comparison to others leads to "the grass is always greener." We are here to water our own lawn and throw some wildflowers and fertilizer on it as well! . . . . . . . Instructions: . . . 1. We want you to start a compliment file. And although this is just one day of the challenge, we hope you continue to add to it daily. Get a jar or a box and write one thing you adore about your self and put it in the container. Whenever you are having feelings of less than, reach into that jar and shower yourself with compliments and love. Post a picture of your jar (or if you are feeling it – post a picture of your first compliment!) . . . 2. Follow @selfcareawarenessmonth and @evolvetolive on Instagram and Facebook . . . 3. Day 12 – Self-Care Awareness Month Challenge – Just Say No This one was hard for me. And I hemmed and hawed over it for a few days. My sister and my niece were visiting my mom in Arizona and I had originally planned on going to see them. But as the time came closer to going nothing was flowing. Tickets were expensive, the timing was off, I had a ton of work, I wasn't feeling well. But in my head I felt like I SHOULD go. It's actually pretty rude if I don't. I mean really, Kim. Just get in the car and drive. I was even feeling external pressure. But I stuck to my intuition and stayed home. This is a constant practice for me and it gets easier as I practice more. I have to ask myself in every moment, with every invitation, "what can I do with joy?" If I can keep that in the front of my mind, I usually am choosing what is best for me. #selfcare #selfcareawarenessmonth #evolvetolive #selfcarechallenge And since I stayed home I got a ton done!!

Today's self care task ✍🏻⠀ This one is pretty self explanatory, to reduce your stress you must first work out what causes your stress. It can be difficult to find the exact triggers but definitely worth it. ⠀ Common stressors are children, deadlines, exams, tests, work, bosses, driving, partners, friends, health, finances and the list can go on and on. ⠀ Once you work it out you can then come up with an action plan on how to reduce that stress such as putting your kids in nursery 2 days a week, applying for new jobs or sticking to a budget. It's much easier to fight a problem once you know what it is 💪🏼 #30daychallenge #30dayselfcarechallenge #selfcarechallenge #selfcare #stress #stressrelief #stressmanagement #stresstriggers #younique #youniquemakeup #workfromhome #makeup #skincare #bossbabe #upliftempowervalidate

#selfcarechallenge day 11! ✨JOURNAL ✨ And not just journal once but I'd like for you to have the intention to start journaling every single morning when you wake up. Write down what's on your mind. Write down what stresses you. Write down how you feel. Write down what you're grateful for. Write down how you express love for yourself. Write from your heart. If you've ever worked with me (or even just befriended me) you know that journaling is the first habit I tell people to pick up. When you journal you're able to heal yourself. Your able to actually see where you are and where you want to go. If you're struggling in life or if you're just wanting to prove some situations- start journaling today. {even if it's not as soon as you wake up} ❤️#selfcaretips #septemberchallenge #selfcareseptember

Day Eleven – Ask For Help “Be strong enough to stand alone, smart enough to know when you need help, and brave enough to ask for it.” – Unknown Asking for help can be hard but actually accepting help is even harder. It requires you to let go of some control. To surrender and trust that your needs will be met. Let go of the outcome and expectations and allow others to help carry the load. Instructions: 1. Where in your life can you ask for help? Maybe it is with a project at work. Perhaps it is telling members of your family you could use a hand preparing dinner or doing the laundry. And once you ask for help, can you allow the other person to support you? Post a picture of part of this process. Maybe a picture of the lovely soul who provided the help (if they are willing). There are many of us who live alone or don't have constant interaction with others on a daily basis. No worries! If this is you, or this particular challenge doesn't feel appropriate to you, think of a time or a space that you could have used help, but didn't ask. Or maybe set an intention to ask and accept help the next time it comes around! Perhaps a picture of the project you need help with? Get creative! 2. People often over estimate what they can accomplish in a year but under estimate what they can accomplish in three.✨ Today, I'd like for you to make a vision board for how you'd like your life to change over the next 3 years. ✨ For those of you who are new to vision boards; this will change your life. ✨HOW IT WORKS: a vision board is a board that holds pictures and words of affirmation of what it is you'd like to feel and experience in the relative future. The reason for having a vision board is to stay focused and inspired by your heart & desires daily. I firmly believe that if you have a desire of good intention placed on your heart then it has been made for you already by God and all you have to do is open yourself up to it and believe that you are worthy of it. To make your vision board, grab a poster board (or any large medium) and collect some magazines that catch your interest. From here, go through the magazine and see what speaks to you. You can also print pictures off the internet if you'd like. 💌I do ask that you create a physical board opposed to a Pinterest board- the magic becomes much more real when you can physically touch your dreams.💌 Some helpful tips- -before starting take some deep breaths, close your eyes, place your hand on your heart and truly ask yourself, "what is it that l'd really love?" This will help you get a clear idea on what to cut out. – If you're having trouble figuring out what it is you DO want, look at how/what you don't want to feel anymore and then find the opposite of that (cause that will be what you want.) – Be open to the timing. When I do vision boards I first think of the next 6 months of what it is I am committed to working towards. (Example eating better & meditating more). Then from there, I start visualizing things I'd like the experience within the next three years. I don't hold on to the energy of "how" or "when" it will happen, I only think about the "what" and the "why" (which have been scientifically proven for manifesting what you want.) So I hope you enjoy this experience! And I'll be posting my vision board in the private Positive Self-Care Sisterhood group on FB! Let me know if you want in 😉

Day Nine – Open Your Heart “An open heart is an open mind.” – Dalai Lama XIV We are in a time where our bodies have grown accustom to the demands of our daily routines…pitching our heads forward looking at cell phones, computer screens, driving, sitting at desks…it all takes a toll on the body. “For every inch of Forward Head Posture, it can increase the weight of the head on the spine by an additional 10 pounds.” -Kapandji, Physiology of Joints, Vol. 3 So! It is easy to get stuck thinking that health is an event. Loosing a few pounds, touching your toes, running a 10K, reducing inches around your waist. They are all great motivators but maintaining a healthy lifestyle is more about continual assessment rather than a final exam. It the choices you make every day: +an extra glass of water, +walking the long way around, +getting to bed early, +regular exercise routine, +healthy food choices every day, +finding the beauty and humour in everyday life Crossing a finishing line is a different kind of challenge to doing the work everyday for the rest of your life. Which in many ways changes your focus if you know you need to fit in a healthy lifestyle into your everyday not just for a couple of months. It becomes simpler. Today's self care task ✍🏻⠀ You might be wondering what this has to do with self care. I think it's to keep your brain stimulated. You know when you've been doing something so long that literally nothing surprises you and it's just getting plain boring. That's bad for your brain and mindset. How can you feel positive about doing it again and again. ⠀ But if you're challenging your brain by learning new things it will feel less bored and therefore less negative. ⠀ I'm currently registering to become a childminder and there's a lot of reading involved. I've learned so much it's unreal, I had no idea childminders needed to know so much. Learning new things just gives you a bit of a buzz and we should all try do it everyday. ⠀ What are you currently researching or what would you like to look into ? #30daychallenge #30dayselfcarechallenge #selfcarechallenge #selfcare #learn #research #learnsomethingnew #stimulateyourbrain #nomoreboredom #positivity #happymindset #younique #youniquemakeup #workfromhome #makeup #skincare #bossbabe #upliftempowervalidate

Day 6: Be Still Taking a moment (or 20 mins) in my everyday routine, to be still and do my meditation and yoga ritual is what really saved me from burnout and adrenal fatigue. . There is nothing like the welcoming experience of rolling out your yoga mat in anticipation of the euphoric feeling you get from practising Shambhavi Mahamudra a technique taught by Sadhguru and the Isha Foundation. . This unique yoga meditation is a 40 day initiation practice led by the legendary yogi himself in Sadhguru. @sadhgurujv if you would like to follow him on twitter for his modern humour, inspiring thoughts on life and insightful ancient wisdom. He is also an excellent storyteller that adds humour to everything. . The experience of being in the presence of Sadhguru for 2 whole days literally changed my life. I have never been so still in all my life. Having to focus on your breath and being still and quiet, seemed like a lifetime at times, but I can see now it was so necessary that let go of the ego. . From being such a busy-body and experiencing the busy-ness of life as my normal, was no longer serving me. . . I was ready to live and learn another way to show up and thrive in this life. Sadhguru showed me the way. I am eternally grateful for the time we spent with him and for the wisdom he imparted on me. . I have mastered the art of creating stillness whenever I want, wherever I want. Bringing stillness into my everyday rituals of living is the way I tap into source energy that replenishes my soul so I show up as the best version of myself. Day 5: Clear & Direct Communication Today's self-care post is a picture of a few of my healing crystals that help me to communicate effectively with loved ones, people that I work with and myself. I use my crystals to tap into my inner wisdom and intuition to seek solutions to my personal challenges and inner self talk in order to have the confidence to communicate authentically and truthfully, always coming from a place of love. My crystals also help to protect me from any negative energy in places that could create an uncomfortable vibe or where there is negative energy in the air. I am able to be myself and not be affected. One of my top super powerful self-care practices, if I am going into a difficult situation, is to equip myself with a rose quarts crystal in my bra!! Day Six – Be Still “The quieter you become, the more you can hear.” – Ram Dass Emotions play such a big role in how we see ourselves in this world. It is crucial to be aware of how certain things affect our emotional well being. Meditation is a way to peel back the distractions and layers of external world and allow us to find the stillness to sit with our emotional self. The invitation today is to BE STILL. Find a quiet space and sit in stillness for 5 minutes. What do you notice? Are there twinges of inadequacy? Do you feel less-than? Guilt? Pressure? Are there some “shoulds” that pop into your thought process? Just know that when we try to quiet the mind, the tendency is for thoughts to start exploding in our head. Try to think of them as clouds floating across the sky. Notice them but allow them to keep on moving. And realize this is hard. Be gentle with yourself. It is all practice. Instructions: 1. Post a picture of your place of stillness. This could be your bedroom or the living room couch. Maybe it in your car after your drive home or before work. We would love to see the creative spots that you can find a few momements to be still. 2. Follow @selfcareawarenessmonth and @evolvetolive on Instagram and Facebook 3. Day 4: Body Scan Today we are observing parts of our bodies where we hold tension when we are doing our work. My hands are my assets. I need them to be fully functioning, at ease and stressed. I do a lot of work on my laptop and have RSI recurring episodes if I overwork my fingers and hands. I have to ensure that I take good care of my hands and wrists by not putting too much strain on them. If I don't maintain a good balance of work and restful intervals, I can easily have a relapse and be unable to type or do anything too strenuous with my hands for days. Many years ago I suffered severely with carpal tunnel syndrome and had to have an operation to release the pressure on my wrists. It is still quite painful if I overwork my hands, and I am aware when I get muscle tightness in my fingers and wrists that it is time to rest! This picture is a celebration of how much I appreciate my hands, as without them I would not be able to do what I love with my business online, blogging and writing. Henna art painted by the talented @hennabybjoti. In this day and age of so much use of digital technology, it's important to take care of your hands. Do not ignore the signs if you feel twinges of pain associated with typing and texting. Take regular breaks and try not to type to fast. Have you ever suffered from RSI or carpal tunnel syndrome? ✨ For me the best #selfcare is a balance of time alone to rejuvenate and time with supportive community. I find great refuge in community – I 💚the concept of "finding refuge” – it implies that we are inherently worth being cared for, and can find support internally and in the environment. Being in a caregiving profession, it is a necessary practice, one that takes awareness and dedication, to remember to seek and receive my own support ✨ Thanks to the folks at @selfcareawarenessmonth for the gift of this challenge! #selfcarechallenge #evolvetolive #kuanyin #compassion #meditation #mentalhealthawareness #mindbodysoul #healing #healthandwellness #community #refuge #inquiry #innerpeace #blissful #inhaleexhale #psychotherapy #wholistichealing #lovingkindness #mindfulness #lovingkindness #psychology #intentionalliving #peace #wellness #mindbodyspirit #selfesteem

Today's self care task ✍🏻⠀ News feeds can be so overwhelming as can the amount of group invites you get, notifications, messages, friend requests, adverts etc. ⠀ A few tips on cleaning up your newsfeed are ⠀ 1- turn off notifications for groups you're not interested in but might check from time to time ⠀ 2- leave groups you don't want to be in ⠀ 3- unfriend people who annoy you or you don't really know ⠀ 4- just spend less time on social media ⠀ I hope these help make your feeds a bit cleaner and less overwhelming 😊 #30daychallenge #30dayselfcarechallenge #selfcarechallenge #selfcare #destress #socialmedia #socialmediafeeds #reducethenoise #lessphonetime #younique #youniquemakeup #workfromhome #makeup #skincare #bossbabe #upliftempowervalidate

I'm doing something a little different for September. I'm working on a self-love challenge. Day 2 was enjoy your favorite beverage and day 3 asks reflect on your past week. I picked up this nifty journal at Paper source. It's a 5 minute a day gratefulness journal. Every morning you write down 3 things you're grateful for, 3 things that would make today great and you come up with a few affirmations. Gotta get in the #gratefulmindset because that's where transformation magic happens! I will also be working through @thejourneyjunkie chakra challenge this week! Feel free to head over to her website and sign up for free! Do the challenge with me! Self-Care Awareness Month Challenge **************************Day Four – Body Scan “As long as you are breathing there is more right with you than wrong with you.” – Jon Kabat-Zinn Self-Care can be tough when we find ourselves in our “work” lives -and that looks different for everyone. Some people have traditional 9-5 jobs, others may work remotely, and for some of us, work is taking care of the home (heck, you might have all three!) And while we may have these "professions" to create income or add stability to our lives in some way they might not necessarily feed our heart desires. With all of the various “jobs” that we hold, boundaries can become muddled and many of us experience feelings of frustration, depression and resentment when it comes to our “day jobs”. Whatever your job is, the invitation today is to do a BODY SCAN when you head into that part of your life. Notice how getting dressed feels. Notice how commuting feels. Notice how the routine of the day feels. Do you hold tightness in your belly? Do you find your eyebrows knitting together and putting tension on your third eye? Maybe there is a lightness that happens when you head into your job. Do you feel joy in work? Breath into the those spaces that feel tight or compressed. Soften the face, release the shoulders from the ears, let the belly relax… Every inhale locates areas of tightness or constriction and every exhale releases the tension out of the body. Instructions: 1. Post a picture of something that inspires this BODY SCAN. It can be a selfie of you breathing or something more abstract. Maybe the area of the body you find yourself holding tension. Be creative! There is no wrong answer! 2. Follow @selfcareawarenessmonth and @evolvetolive on Instagram and Facebook 3. Use the following hashtags: #selfcare #selfcarechallenge #selfcareawarenessmonth #evolvetolive 4. Make sure your Instagram profile is public so that we can see your amazing posts! We have some amazing prizes and will be drawing from everyone that participated at the end of the month. Photo by @chrisjoelcampbell and @unsplash #chrisjoelcampbell #unsplash

Day 3: Favorite Quote #selfcare #september #selfcarechallenge This quote by #mahatmagandhi is my favorite. I often hear people (me included) who talk about what they want the world to be like but don't always take the action needed. Or, we think we need everyone on board to bring the changes in society that we desire. It's empowering to start with self. See what can be done in our daily lives which has a huge impact on the world around us. Choose one area you're passionate about and be the thing which you want to see. For me, I'd love to see a world with more peace and respect, so I'll start with the way I treat myself and those around me. #mawuangels #yoga #atlyoga #atlantayoga #gandhi #bethechange

| #SelfCareAwarenessMonth challenge #1…… Stop doing so much. — Seriously, take something off your plate. Empower your children, family, friends and co-workers to do for themselves. So what if you can do it better or faster. So what if they have to ask you a bunch of questions before they understand the task at hand. So what if it takes longer to explain it than to just do it. It won't always be that way. — Part of the reason you don't have enough time as it is to do those things you really want to do, to work on your business, to chase your dreams, is because you won't relinquish control. Put your cape away. Let go. Relax. Breathe. And celebrate your new found #freedom. 💛 You can do anything, but you can't do everything. 👑 #takeyourtimeback #liveyourbestlife #selfcaresundays — Share in the comments, what's the one task you're letting go of? |

Day Three – Cloud Gazing “My soul is in the sky.” – William Shakespeare You are not alone. It can feel like you are out here all by yourself some days but remember you are part of a large cosmic energy that lives in all of us. Today the invitation is to bring your awareness to something bigger. A really great way to do that is to look up at the sky. We invite you to cloud gaze but you could also look at the stars, lay under a big tree and stare at the branches. The goal is to find yourself in awe of the vastness and feel the total support of something greater. However you name it (God, The Universe, Yahweh, Jehovah, Shakti) know that there is a celestial being out there cheering you on and supporting your grand journey on Earth. Instructions: 1. Post a picture of what you are gazing at. We love seeing all those gorgeous views of the greatness above! 2. Follow @selfcareawarenessmonth and @evolvetolive on Instagram and Facebook 3. Day Two “Body is not stiff. Mind is stiff.” -Sri K Pattabhi Jois Oooof! Getting out of bed can be hard for many of us. Multiple snooze buttons, email notifications on our phones, the list can be long of reasons why we prefer to stay huddled under our covers. The invitation today is to bring awareness to how you feel when you wake up. An easy way to do this is allow yourself a few glorious moments to STRETCH! Some of our favorite ways are: Gentle Twists – bring both knees to the chest and then slowly drop them to either side. Full Body Stretch – extend your arms above your head and reach the palms to the top of your mattress. At the same time, reach your toes to the foot of the bed. Feel free to rock side to side and breath into the ribcage. Child’s Pose – Come into a table top position (hands and knees). Take your knees as wide as feels comfy and bring your big toes to touch. Start to sink the hips back to your heels and feel a stretch through the front of the body. Remember to be gentle! You just woke up! This should feel yummy! Instructions: 1. Post a picture of your morning stretch…don’t worry, it can be as simple as a picture of your toes reaching for the end of the bed! 2. Follow @selfcareawarenessmonth and @evolvetolive on Instagram and Facebook 3. Use the following hashtags: #selfcare #selfcarechallenge #selfcareawarenessmonth #evolvetolive 4. Self–Care Awareness Month in September is a time to remind us that taking care of ourselves, first and foremost, is essential. Self-care is often neglected in our everyday lives. We all tend to put others needs before our own and it is crucial to remember, that we cannot fill another’s cup from our own empty vessel. While getting a massage or taking a walk are beautiful examples of taking time for our well-being, self-care can be more expansive than that.⠀ ⠀ Self-care knows no boundaries. It is something that everyone, without any exclusions, can benefit from practicing on a daily basis. True self-care is not self-centered nor selfish; it is simply keeping yourself the focus of your own life. It’s about paying attention to how you feel in each moment, communicating clearly, speaking up for yourself and saying yes or no…guilt free.⠀ ⠀ HOW TO OBSERVE⠀ ⠀ Use the month of September to make self-care a part of your daily routine – practice being good to yourself. It can be as simple as a conscious breathe in the morning or as luxurious as time away from the pressures of everyday life. The kindness we show towards ourselves will manifest into a kinder world.⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ #SelfCareAwarenessMonth #selflove #selfcarechallenge #evolvetolive #beauty #skincare #drsuzelvazquez #coralgables #integrativemedicine #internist #antiaging #hormonetherapy #ivtherapy #meyerscocktail #rejuvenation

✨Take inventory of what you need. In life we tend to just go with the flow. Even the best of us who are aspiring for more in life can get caught up in "the wave of things." This morning I invite you to check in with yourself and take inventory of what it is you need. Are you feeling depleted and are in need of some rest? Are you feeling lonely and needing support? Find what it is you need. Your needs can be emotional, physical, or mental. Honor all of them. If this is your first time doing any type of work like this I strongly suggest you take a couple private minutes this morning and journal our your thoughts and needs. Some coaching tips: ✨if you're finding it difficult to gain clarity on what it is you need to take care of for yourself- look at the negatives in your life first. When we witness how we don't like feeling we can then find the contrast of that energy and through that process find what it is we do want (the positive). ✨ If by chance when you do this exercise you realize that you're in need of something BIG- a move, a new job, a shift in lifestyle, or anything like that, here's what you do: – honor those feelings and thank yourself for finally seeing them. The first step to changing anything in our lives is becoming a witness to how things are. – Write about why you want this change – Write about how you want to feel differently (focus on the ideal situation; let your mind and heart play with a positive outcome💖) – Then ask yourself what is one SMALL step you can take this weekend that can help you get to that ideal situation. Then DO that. The only way to change anything is to make different choices. – In a couple days come back to this exercise. I hope you enjoy your day love bugs! And remember- feel free to reach out in the #PositiveSelfcareSisterhood on FB for additional love and support ✨ #selfcarechallenge #selfcareseptember #selfcare #septemberchallenge #selflove #lifecoach

Some fabulous advice for the weekend. It is easy to keep busy, when what we need is to put our feet up with a good book and a cup of tea, or whatever helps you to relax. Having a digital holiday at some point over the weekend is great for helping to slow us down and disconnecting. If you know what you need to do for your own self-care, but need some help to put it into practice then my September Self-care Challenge for Wise Women may be just the thing for you. “ You need to stop behaving as though posture, breath, movement and lifestyle don’t matter to your overall health” – Jill Miller —- She puts this so elegantly. Really – wake up girl 👋is the message I get out of this. We have this idea that what we do to our body doesn’t matter. That we can eat all the junk – do all the junk things and unless we get “injured” it’s all good. 💁🏼 – Yea- not so much. – Until I started connecting more deeply with my body I didn’t full understand why some things just felt wrong in my body and the day I tried out the little #rubberdrugs called #ytuballs – bah – {but that’s a story for another time and place – aka it’ll prob be on Sweat & Yoga’s #healthyvlog }. – Fast forward to current day and age and I have a seriously profound understanding of my body and how it wants to function {even when sometimes that means a whole lotta chocolate 🍫🍫holla – #addictedtochocolate } and I have #bodyconnection to thank for that. I teach and move in a way that serves my body. I use products that help me function optimally – and that’s something I am eager to share with you! So….. – Drum roll please….. 🥁 – #sweatandyoga is starting a #bodyconnect #modernbookclub. – The rules are- there are no rules. Do what feels good to you – what makes you connect better – body mind and soul. – There is so much confusing info out there about health and fitness. I have had the pleasure of having some amazing mentors along the way that have demystified some of that crazy {plus it helps that I have a little bit of critical thought – guess I did get something from uni } . I have read so many amazing books that have helped me along on my journey { haha that sounds os yogi – must ruin moment now 💁🏼😂}and I want to be able to share them and some of my own insights from the books with you. – There will be a new body, mind, soul book {not necessarily all of them cause you know… there aren’t many books like that out there} picked every 3 months. – Along with that book – we will have LIVE vids , yoga classes and talks on the #youtubechannel – The intro vid 🎥 for the series just went live #linkinbio See you in the #bodybookclub 💦 Sweat & Radiance

Good morning everyone! Today is the first day of September which means it's the first day of our challenge! Yay!! Day one seems really easy but sometimes the easiest things are hardest to do. It can be difficult to start and stay on a new routine. I know drinking hot tea before I go to bed is a complete game changer. It sets my whole night differently. It basically forces me to wind down and take it easy; opposed to rushing around and overthinking. When we drink something soothing (especially during the shift from day to night) it tells our energy that it's time to be taken care of, to relax, and be calm. The more we practice feeling comfortable with those feelings, the more we'll call them into our lives. So wether it's tea, almond milk, golden milk, or just warm water, challenge Yourself to drink something warm and relaxing…tonight! And make sure you take a moment to honor your commitment to yourself with this challenge- that's sooo important {and critical in my opinion} for success 💖 Tag me and use the hashtag #selfcareseptember so I can see your posts! 💖 #drinktea #selfcare #selflove #selfcarechallenge #selflovechallenge #septemberchallenge

  1. Good day! I know this is kinda off topic but I was wondering which blog platform are you using for this site? I’m getting fed up of WordPress because I’ve had issues with hackers and I’m looking at alternatives for another platform. I would be fantastic if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.
